Norman Carter is a Virginian native, now residing in Raeford, North Carolina, with his wife Debra. They have a daughter, Megan, and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Zaya. He studied art at York Academy of Arts, Shaw University (where he majored in art and theatre), Virginia Commonwealth University, and Cape Cod School of Arts.
